Tea is a major industry in Bangladesh and grows in the low hills of Chittagong and Sylhet. The tea plantation workers in Sylhet are mostly of the indegenous tribes called the Santals. Shade trees are the only trees allowed to grow. The tea plants are trimmed to just over waist height to facilitate plucking. The Surma Tea estate with over 8000 acres is one of the largest tea gardens. Sylhet. Dhaka.
