'Brooklyn Bridge, running over the East river from park row, in Manhattan, to Sands Street, Brooklyn. Construction was begun in 1870, and the bridge was opened to traffic in 1883, having cost $21,000,000. The total length of the bridge is 6,537 feet, and the width 85 feet.
