The Laxmi Narayan Mandir Temple (or Birla Mandir) is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess of Wealth, Laxmi. It was built over six years in a Orissan style and was completed in 1939. It was opened by Mahatma Gandhi who stipulated that it must be open to all castes (including the untouchables) and all faiths.
