The Wind River Range belongs to the same system asthe Front Range of Colorado, and probably like it stood above thelevel of the water in very early time. I have in other places indicatedmy belief that the Rocky Mountains of Colorado were affected by asubsidence extending through a long period of time, and I think it prob-able that the Wind River Range partook of the same movement, andthat its present elevation is due to an elevation in Post-Cretaceous Hay den was inclined to consider the Sweetwater Valley an extensionto the east or southeast of the axis of the Wind River Range.
