Editor: It will no doubt be of interest to yourreaders, that since I made a series of testsseme five years ago, on the formationof corrugations for locomotive fireboxesand tube plates, it has been proved thatthis formation is considerably over 60 percent, stronger than the flat steel plateswhen made up into fireboxes and tubeplates. Also since these tests, the prin-ciple of corrugation has been adopted formany devices, for now we see corrugatedculvert covers, sewer pipes, telegraphpoles, railroad ties, rods for reinforcingconcrete work, even carrying it as far aspaper for packing, and heavy wall papers,etc., all of which is no doubt due to thefact of its extra strength and neutralizingefifect on changes of temperatures. But it is to be remarked that the in-terest of motive power has been retarded,no doubt by the experiments in this di-rection, made with crude tools some 25years ago, and only applied to one partof a firebox, and
