Monitex CRT recycling and reuse plant, Grand Prairie Texas.
A company called Monitex in Grand Prairie, Texas, buys used CRT monitors, visually inspects the tubes, takes apart the monitors, recycles the plastics and components, and either recycles the bad tubes, or sends them to a factory in Thailand. At the factory, a tube from the computer monitor is cleaned and incorporated into a SKD television kit. The television is then sold for $50-60 in developing countries as an essentially new product.
