Stock photo of the burnt out village of Oradour sur Glane in France In the second world war the village was surrounded by SS Nazi troops and the whole village was assembled in barns in the village Women and children were moved into the church The remaining menfolk in the barns were all shot by the SS troops The church was then set on fire and machine gunned Around 600 people were killed in this attrocity and the village is now a living memorial to all those who so cruelly lost their lives
