British Politician, philosopher and classical liberal John Stuart Mill (standing) (1806-1873) and his friend Jean-Henri Casimir Fabre (Henri Fabre, 1823-1915 ) entomologist ,studying butterflies in the field. Mill is considered by many to be the the most influential English-speaking philosopher of the nineteenth century and was the second Member of Parliament to call for women's suffrage.(1920's image) .Fabre was a autodidact, being totally self taught without aid from any teachers but became a popular teacher himself as well as a physicist, chemist and botanist.
