Ruins of the round columbarium tower on Masada, the niches in the walls housed the pigeons that were used for food and their droppings were used as fertelizer. The fortress of Masada was built in the Judean Desert by King Herod the Great between 37 and 14 BC by King Herod the Great, during the Great Revolt against the Roman Zealots, Sicarii or Rebels lived here. They lost to the Romans and died in 73 AD, Masada was destroyed by an earthquake hundreds of years later. Masada, Israel. February 24, 2021
