Fawley Reservoir, Fawley, New Forest, Hampshire, 08/10/1954. Workers employed on the construction of Fawley Reservoir queuing at a mobile canteen. Civil engineering work commenced in September 1954 for the formation of a reservoir for the Esso Refinery Company at Fawley, Southampton. The site of the contract was at the head of Cadland Creek. The work involved damming the lower end of an existing valley and the construction of a spillway, stilling basin and outfall.
