The other type of Barnacle is the Stalked or Gooseneck Barnacle (fig. 3). \Vhereas Acorn Bar- nacles are attached to the hull by the calcareous plates -which form the cone-shaped shell, Stalked Barnacles have a muscular stalk which suspends the body from the hull.
