These coincide with counts from White River specimens. Considering the small size of the Black River sample, no important differences are evident. Relationships.—Noturus cdbater is a distinctive species without close aflfinity to any other species of the subgenus Rabida. The increased number of pectoral rays and the shortening of the anterior pectoral.
