The white house is the oldest half-timbered house in Elsinore originally from The building was a public house in early days called ”Peter i Ankerets datter”. (Peter at the daughter of the anchor). Many of the old houses in the harbour district area were originally old inns or pubs. Skyttenstræde: Though meaning "Marksman's Lane", the lane is named after a family named "Skyts" who lived there in the beginning of the 17 hundreds. The small houses were in the 16 hundreds tenanted properties, but were later bought by fishermen and ferrymen.
