The much-visited sign post at Sterling Point on the outskirts of the port of Bluff on New Zealand's South Island. A much photgraphed place, great for a is often claimed that it marks the southern most point of South Island. It doesn't! That honour falls to Slope Point to the east of Bluff. However Bluff does mark the start of SH1 (State Highway 1) and is famous for its Bluff Oysters. It is also the place to catch the ferry to Stewart Island.
