Statue by Praxiteles. 17th-century artwork of front and rear views of a marble statue of a female nude by the Ancient Greek sculptor Praxiteles. It is thought that Praxiteles was among the first to sculpt life-size female nudes. This statue is from the Mausoleum of Hadrian (Castel Sant'Angelo), Rome, Italy. This artwork was published in a study of physiognomy, the practice of assessing personality traits from a person's appearance.
