As above stated, the sliding side doors at the ends of thecars are operated by means of compressed air cylinders, whichare to be controlled by the guards standing across the twoplatforms in end-door openings, in a manner similar to thatwhich is usual upon the cars with the open-end door-operating air cylinders are arranged in the sidewalls of the cars, with their piston rods attached directly to thesliding doors, and they are operated by means of air valveswhich admit compressed air to either end of the cylinder atwill.
