L. RANDALL CO. Wabash Ave. at Lake St., CHICAGO Mrs George Gobel has the sympathy of the trade in the loss of her father, John Schaffer. whose death occurred last week. Mrs. Gobel will probably be remembered best through her con- nection with Bassett & Washburn, where she was employed as stenog- rapher for many years. A. L. Vaughan & Co. received several large shipments of peonies this week, which leads them to believe that their growers will be right at the height of their cut for Memorial day. The Moth- ers' day sales at this establishment wer3 the best ever. Zech & Manr cleaned up completely in all lines of stock for Mothers' day when the total sales for the week estab- lished a new record. Mrs. AUie Zech visited the store for the first time this week since her operation. Bassett & Washburn never experi- enced such a brisk call for stock as thev did for Mothers' day, when everything sold like hot-cakes. Roses, especially, were in heavy demand at this establishment. Paul Klingsporn says that the de- mand for stock was so hea\-y for Mothers' day at the Chicago Flower Growers' Association store that an early cleanup in all lines was expe- rienced. Erne & Co. had several good sized shipments of peonies and lilac for Mothers' day which added to their regular line of stock made their Moth- ers' day trade the best ever. C. L. WashbuiTi says that the Hins- dale florists had such a heavy call for stock for Mothers' day that it was impossible to handle all the customers. ' William Hansen is the latest addi- tion to the offi
