Prize-winning Dorset artist, Sophie Fretwell, 21, has unveiled a new portrait she has painted to celebrate the 91st birthday of Sir David Attenborough, which he celebrates today, the 8th May. Sophie has re-imagined Sir David as a flesh & blood 'Dr Doolittle' who, like the fictional Doolittle 'talks to the animals'. This explains why Sophie has included a parrot and a pig in her painting; two of the animals which lived with the fictional Doolittle and to whom he communicated in the famous children's stories. The Dr Doolittle stories were created by Hugh Lofting and the first book was published in 1920
