Guide explaining the significance of the killer whale totem inside the Klemtu Big House, Klemtu, British Columbia

A guide from Klemtu village inside the Kitasoo/Xai'xais Big House, Klemtu, British Columbia. The Big House was constructed in 2005 in the design of the traditional long houses of the Tsimshian First Nations and is used by the community in celebrations, traditional dances and memorials. The young man is pointing at the totem of a killer whale with an eagle on top. The figures represent two of the kinship groups of the four different kinship groups of Klemtu, who are members of Kitasoo and the Xia'xian tribes. The killer whale represents a traveler & guardian and is a symbol of good.
