A North German chiselled dish-hilt rapier with spear point, circa 1660 Tapered thrusting blade of diamond section, with flat ridges and broadening towards the point (spear point). Chiselled iron guard plate decorated with ornamental openwork, slender hilt and spirally coiled quillons (copper soldering repair on the knuckle guard). Elaborate original grip wound with iron and copper wire, decorated with Turk's heads. Chiselled, oblong oval pommel.
