The specimen shows the vein at the pointfrom which it was taken to have had a width of over 2 feet, which is large for aCobalt vein. The specific gravity is M (II) $2 Bureau of Mines No. 4 ff< m Claim.—What may be called a somewhat irregular slab of ore, 5 feet in length1 -. 2 feet in width and about 1 foot thick, was found in the loose, glacial deposits whenprospecting on this claim. It weighs 1,640 lb. and contains, by specific gravity deter-mination, 9,715 Troy ounces of fine silver. At the time of purchase, January, 1910, thevalue of the specimen was approximately $5,000, silver then being worth centsan ounce. While the Trethewey and Crown Reserve specimens are of fresh ore blasted outof the vein, the Gem specimen represents mater
