Major General Prince Felix Felixovich Sumarokov-Elston (1856 - 1928) - his personal M 1838 officer's and general's shashka, Curved single-edged blade with fullers and a double-edged point. Made by "Alex. Coppel Solingen". A finely etched Russian double-headed eagle beneath a tsarist crown or trophy decoration on the ricassos. Finely polished brass hilt with sharkskin grip cover and brass wire winding. Black leather scabbard (signs of age) with brass mountings. Length 96 cm. Cf. Kulinski, Russische Blankwaffen, p. 240.
