This painting shows the view from the Great Terrace at Sanssouci, the summer palace of Frederick the Great, the king of Prussia.

This illustration is taken from Agenda 1907 by Rudolph Hertzog. It shows the view from the Great Terrace at Sanssouci, the summer palace of Frederick the Great, the king of Prussia from 1740 to 1786. It was located at Potsdam, near Berlin, and rivaled the French palace at Versailles. Rudolph Hertzog had founded in Berlin a department store in 1839 that was also a mail-order business. It continued in his family until 1949. They produced annually an agenda, with a variety of photos, diagrams, maps, accompanying text, and a calendar designed for each day to accommodate a shopping list.
