A set of armour plates(char aina)and a pair of arm guards(bazu band),India,18th century A set of matching curved wootz Damascus plates for breast,back,and both sides,(tops cut out for the arms). Riveted edge reinforcements with surrounding gold inlay in floral designs. Each has four or six fasteners(two missing)with later leather straps. Heights 31 and cm. The hinged wootz Damascus arm guards,forged in one piece,have reinforced edges inlaid with floral patterns in gold. The inside wrist plates are worked en suite.
