An F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 22, flown by Cmdr. David Montgomery, assigned to Carrier Air Wing 17, and VFA-22's Commanding Officer Cmdr. Fernando Garcia makes an arrested recovery on the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The recovery was Garcia's 1000th carrier landing. Carl Vinson and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 are deployed to the 7th Fleet area of operations.
