This mission carried the second Spacelab Life Sciences module, SLS-2, in its payload bay. Blood samples were taken from crew members for many of the SLS-2 experiments, all of which were designed to study how the body adapts to microgravity in orbit. Mission STS-58 flew on 18 October to 1 November 1993.
