Church at Flateyri, near Isafjordur, Iceland
Flateyri on the bay Onundarfjordur has been a trading post since 1792. The main industries were fishing and fish processing. In 1995 Flateyri was struck by an avalanche, which destroyed many houses and nearly 30 people were killed. Avalanche obstructions have been erected in the slopes above the village, as can be seen behind the church.
