Berlin, Germany. 27th January 2019. Today marks the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, an annual day of commemoration developed to help prevent future genocides. During World War II, six million Jewish people were killed in the Holocaust. The selected date of January 27th marked the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. According to a new Eurobarometer Survey published recently by the European Commission, 66 percent of those surveyed in Germany believe anti-Semitism is a problem in their country, compared to 50 percent across the EU. Furthermore, only 53 percent of Europeans surveyed believe Holocaust denial is a problem in their country, compared to 71 percent in Germany. / Pictured: Droplets of rain fall on the Monument to the Deported Jewish children "Trains in the life - Trains in the death" – located on Georgenstraße.
