The earliest photograph on which it can be detectedappears to be one taken at Harvard on February 6, 1888, byProfessor W. H. Pickering (Harvard Annals. Vol. 32, PlateIII, Fig. 3.). The caption for Figure 9, p. 128. should read EratosthenesMethod of Determining the Size of the Earth. In Figure 14, p. 183, the letter V and the words Line ofEquinoxes should be stricken out.
