The former Holbeck Hall Hotel (Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK) which suddenly sank into the sea due to cliff erosion. The clifftop hotel was owned by the Turner family. It had been built in 1879 by George Alderson Smith originally as a private residence. On the 4th June 1993, 55 metres of the large hotel garden disappeared, the beginning of a landslide which eventually saw the hotel slide down the rain sodden mud cliffs in ruins the next day.
