Continuing along the right side ofthe hall, the next exhibit is that of theFlorida Manatee, a thick-set, homelybeast, well adapted to its aquatic is the group of Pacific Walrus, oneof the largest in the Museum, whichshows these Arctic Sea mammals at homeon an ice floe. In the first left corner is a large groupol Steller Sea Lions at home on St. GeorgeIsland, one of the Pribilofs. The male SeaLions are huge, powerful seals with mas-sive necks and shoulders. Adjacent to the Sea Lions arc foundthe Alaska Fur Seals on Kitovi Rookery,. GROIT OF PROBOSCIS MONKEYS (Nasalis lantatus). These remarkable monkeys occur only on the island of Borneo. They are characterized bv the flaming orange-red color of the face and by the elongated proboscis which gives them their name St. Pauls Island. Many details of thehome life of these beautiful seals are tobe noted in this group, which shows thevigorous dominant bulls, each with hisharem of sleek, slender cows, the bachelorbulls, and the playful pups. On the floor of the hall are several caseswith special exhibits. One of these is theTownsend Fur Seal, a species on the vergeof extinction and only recently redis-covered after it was believed by many tohave disappeared completely. Anothercase displays several types of diving gearwith full equipment of pump, telephone,etc. At either side, at the right side of thehall, main floor, are two cases with thebeautiful Undersea Paintings by H. Pritchard
