Usually the tumors are multiple, though some may be intra-muscular or sub-mucous. The influence of these tumors upon the shape of the iTterus has beenspoken of above. The change of form, when it occurs, consists in anatrophy and a lengthening of the organ. Atrophy, without at the sametime a considerable lengthening of the organ, has nothing to do with theexistence of a tumor, but is commonly due to senile changes. E. Kiis-ter has observed a very peculiar case of this nature. By reason of the. (From tlie Collection of the Pathological Institute at Strasburg.) growth of a myoma, the size of a mans head, at the fundus, the uteruswas greatly lengthened, the cervix especially being four inches long andwith very thin walls. This elongated neck had become a cord the sizeof a finger, through a twisting of the womb two and a half times aroundits axis; the round ligaments were wound spirally around this cord, look-ing like two strings of the thickness of a goose-quill. The twisting hadprobably been caused by intestinal movements, as the anterior wall of theuterus Avas attached by ligamentous masses to the descending colon. As sub-rnucous fibroids onlv those tumors are to be designated Avhicli Beitrage fiir Geburtshiilfe, etc., of the Berlin Obstetrical Society, I., 1873, ANATOMY OF MYO-FIBROMATA. 1 t .i hang by a pe
