Cherginskiy Preserve was organized in 1982 when 11 animals were brought there from the place near Moscow The aim was to research aurochs in severe Siberian conditions Today it is the only one place in Siberia where European Bison dwells There are more then 30 animals inhabit in preserve It is very rare and unique animal Today there are only approximately 3 thousand animals in the world Despite the fact that aurochs were very powerful animals and didn t have natural enemies they were totally destroyed by hunters In the 1924 there were leave only 48 aurochs in the planet Mainly they dwell in preserves now It is very huge animal It weights approximately 1 ton They live in a group The leader of a herd is called dominant If animals feel some danger they crowed together in a circle and small calves are in the center of the circle They begin to utter a sound looks like pig s grunting Sometimes they can pursue the enemy European bison is a very fast runner But it couldn t run for a long distance Very soon it became tired Its weapon is the horns One reason why these animals were on the verge of extinction was that female could have a calf only once per three years Quantity of males is more then females among the animals also Biologists unsuccessfully tried to mate aurochs with cows
