The icon on top of the Pyatnitskiye Gates of the Kremlin in Kolomna, Russia

The Pyatnitskiye Gates (also Spassky Gates) located near Moskva River, made of stone as we know them today, once served as the main entrance to the Kolomna Kremlin and were built between 1525-1531. The front and the rear of the tower are decorated with modern icons with saints and patrons of the city. Prior to 1525, these gates were made of wood. It is through these gates, in 1380, that Saint Dmitry Donskoy entered Kolomna before departing for the Battle of Kulikovo.
