As thedrive progressed, the lassies followed in the wakeof the victorious American troops for a distance ofmany kilometers. Here they made hundreds ofgallons of lemonade and orangeade for the wound-ed, gave thousands of oranges to men going intobattle, and prepared an almost limitless supply ofhot chocolate and coffee for the hosts of troops whoreturned from the battle during the night.
