'St Catherine of Alexandria of Alexandria', c1500. St Catherine of Alexandria was a 4th century early Christian martyr. At her feet is a piece of the spiked wheel upon which she was martyred and she holds a sword with which she was beheaded. She wears a crown denoting her royal blood.
