Jones assumed com-mand of the Battalion, he was appointed Second-in-Command. He commanded the Battalion, with theacting rank of , during the period ColonelJones was in England owing to wounds received in theattack on Vimy Ridge in April, 1917. In October, 1917, Major Elmitt was appointed to acommand in England. This officer, whose enviable record with the 21st isso well known to all who have served with it, will alv/aysstand as one of the prominent figures in the histor
