Application to the Visual Arts Board for the Queensland Art. In 1975, Queensland Cabinet approved an application to the Australian Council for the Arts for a capital grant for the construction of the new Queensland Art Gallery. Construction of QAG began in 1977 and the building opened on 21 June 1982. It became the first major building on the south side of the Brisbane River, adjacent to the new Victoria Bridge.
