Col. J. S Scott, of ScottsCavalry, whose resignation you informed me, had beenaccepted and whose regiment was raised in those par-ishes, if at the head of that regiment and in that fieldcould render me great service both in absorbing un-employed material and breaking up the operations ofthe enemy.
