For baths adapted to allthe requirements of health and disease, andwhich are at the same time durable and com-paratively inexpensive, we must, thereforeseek further. Porcelain, glass, and hardglazed stone-ware have been proposed, and areeven sometimes used for baths; but they pos-sess the disadvantages of being fragile, and BATH 257 Tcry liable to crack when filled with hot waterin cold weather. Wedgewood-ware is verybeautiful and durable; but is expensive, andbaths formed of it can only be obtained onspecial order. Stourbridge-ware, as producedof late years, is the only product of the pottersart that appears entirely to meet the case;but even this yields in durability to enamellediron as a material for baths adapted to allliquids and temperatures, and to rough orcareless usage.
