This contract expires on May 1. The trustees sent aformal letter to the secretary of the joint conference board of the Amalgamated,copies being furnished to all the local papers. He has threatened to call a referendumon it. He said opposition had beengrowing because the plan released thecompany from paving between tracks. Mayor T. M. Mitchell signed theordinance and sent it to the companyon Feb. 17. It has since been acceptedby the company. THE trustees call attention to thefact that the present wage
