Osteoglossum prionostoma Basilewsky, Ichthyographia Chinee Borealis, p. 211; Gulf of Pechili. This species is not known to us. It is evidently a species of Polydactylus, but it is described as having six free pectoral filaments (" pectoralium priores radii sex longi"). The only species of Polydactylus yet known from these waters is Polydactylus agonasi with five free filaments. The fins in Polydactylus prionostomus are said to be pale. In the Chinese species with six filaments, P. xanthonemus and P. sectarius, the pectorals are black. Family OPLEGNATHID^. 142. Oplegnathus fasciatus (Temminck & Schlegel). Fusan ("Korea" 4504a)..
