An obituary portrait of Fred Henry Yates Theatre Actor (1795-1842) published at the time of his death. Fred Yates was an actor-manager who had associated with Dickens's in his early theatre work. He shared management of the Adelphi Theatre, later managing it on his own. He also managed or co-manged the Caledonian Theatre, Edinburgh, Scotland (later to be renamed the Adelphi), the Colosseum in Regent's Park and the Royal Pavilion Theatre in Marylebone, London. Yates married the English actress Elizabeth Brunton.
