A bathroom in one of the apartments where the bath is filled with ceiling tiles GLASGOW, SCOTLAND WELCOME TO THE abandoned housing estate that is dubbed ?Scotland's Chernobyl? and is thought to still have four tenants in residence despite government plans to demolish it this year. Like the ghost town, images show the derelict buildings covered in graffiti and litter with windows smashed in and some fire damage in the properties. These images were captured in Clune Park, Glasgow, Scotland by urban explorer Kyle Urbex who had to visit the property with such a prolific history. The Clune Park Estate located in Port Glasgow consisted of about 430 flats; that amount was broken down by 69 bedsits, 310 of them were one bedroom flats and 51 two bedroom flats. It was erected to accommodate local shipyard workers in the area, however over the years when the shipbuilding industry started to decline many of the flats were left empty to rot and fall into disrepair. The school and church closed on the estate leaving a trail of abandonment in and around the entire area. As of 2023 reports suggest the estate still houses a mere four residents, but the living conditions around the current residents is diabolical with some of the buildings rotted and subject to arson attacks. The entire estate is becoming a huge eyesore for those who still frequent the occupied properties. This housing estate, however, tells a much darker story much recently in 2014, on the 1st of August the estate hit headlines when three men broke into a flat to steal scrap, believing it was empty. They soon discovered an arm sticking up from the floorboards, the body in question was later identified in the newspaper as Charlene Lever who died at another location. It is believed the 21-year-old died of a drug overdose, her body was found containing high levels of heroin as well as traces of alcohol, painkillers and tranquilizers She had needed medical treatment for two drug overdoses prior to her death.
