Major Sir Henry Segrave, racing motorist and land and water speed pioneer. === Sir Henry O'Neal de Hane Segrave (1896 – 1930) set three land and one water records. He was also the first person to travel at over 200 miles per hour (320 km/h) on land. He was born in Baltimore USA , brought up in Ireland but was a British National who attended Eton. During WWI he joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, later transferring to the Royal Flying Corps. His accidental death occurred in 1930 soon after setting a new world water speed record with 'Miss England' seen here on Lake Windermere, England.
