A German campaign sabre, circa 1630 Single-edged blade with narrow fullers on both sides with long, double-edged point. The reverse engraved (partially faded) image of Malchus with hand as well as struck Pi and crescent moon (= Standler). Originally blackened, S-shaped quillons, ornamentally chiselled at front, with inserted heart-shaped guard plate and thumb ring at back. Wood grip with four fullers (wrapping missing) with chiselled iron pommel decorated en suite.
