The great amaryllis family has given us many rare gems, but none that can surpass, if equal, in deli- cate beauty, purity and sweetness this fair Florida flower, most happily styled the Fairy Lily. The cut shows the appearance of the flowers, which are about three inches across, of dazzling whiteness, deliciously sweet scented and borne on scapes about one foot in height. The bulbs ore about the size of acorns, pro- > ducing slender, gras.'i-like foliage, and from one to- 'three perfect flowers at a time. As soon as potted imany of them will send up blooms at once, before they produce foliage, and man,y will continue to bloom at intervals throughout the entire season. For Easter decoration are particularly appro- .priate and quite unsurpassed. Several should be planted in one pot, in good, soil, regularly watered and given ii sunny position. When they evince a disposition to rest, enough water may be given to keep the soil from going On no ac- count should they be completely dried off. Perhaps the most 8a,tisfactor,v to grow them is planting around the edges of pots containing large growing plants, such as Oleanders, Roses, Fuchsias, etc. In such a position i will flouj-ish and bloom for .years, the roots of the la rge plants serving to keep the soil sweet and friable.
