The end and beginning of the line for the historic Zig-Zag train is Clarence station in the small town of Clarence in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, Australia. The Great Lithgow Zig-Zag railway line was first constructed in 1869 to serve local people and to transport goods to Sydney. The line was part of the Main Western Line between Sydney and Perth. The 7 km long cliff-hugging Zig-Zag line to Bottoms Point at the foot of a steep valley is now a popular tourist attraction.
