Dahlia—The different species of Dahlias compose as a whole one of the most showy classes of Autumn-flowering plants. Beginning to flower in August, they are a perfect mass of bloom until stopped by frost. We know of nothing more showy for table, mantel, or other large decoration than the different Dahlias properly arranged. All are of the easiest cultivation, delighting in a deep rich soil. They should be planted three to four feet apart each way and carefully tied to stout stakes to prevent being blown over by strong winds. LARGE FLOWERING VARIETIES Acis—Double, dwarf, lilac. Ada Tiffin—Single, amaranth shaded yellow. Alexander Cremond— Alice—White and lilac. Annie Neville—Blush white. Antiope—Buff shaded crimson. Aristides—Maroon purplish lilac. Autumn Glow—Orange salmon. Beautiful Bells—Orange, tipped and laced lake. Beauty of the Grove—Buff edged crimson. Bellona—Salmon red. Bird of Passage—Lilac edged pink. Bob Ridley—Scarlet tipped white. British Hero—Dark maroon. British Triumph—Crimson. Cardinal—Deep scarlet. Chairman—Coral pink.
