In addition to these shop build-ings is an operating bam containing accommodations foremployes and facilities for light repairs. Method of Handling Repair Work. A crosssection through the car house will show the track facilitiesafforded for making the first inspection of cars as they arebrought in from the runs. Each bay of the inspection sectionwill be provided with a power crane for lifting car bodies. When cars are brought in for inspection or repairs theywill be taken through the car house first, and if the troubleis found in a truck, that defective truck will be run out fromunder the car body and a truck in good repair immediatelyput in its place, so that the rest of the equipment may beidle for the shortest possible time. To provide for thismethod of truck replacement the Rapid Transit company main-tains one extra set of trucks for each 25 cars. It is expectedthat in this manner from 25 to 30 cars in damaged conditioncan be returned to the line for operation each day. If for anyc
